Obsessed Night Shift is a local horror game by Akhir Hayat Studio that combines fried rice cooking simulation with psychological tension in a retro PSX atmosphere. Let’s find out more!
Valeria’s Tragic Story
Here you will be playing as Valeria, a high school girl who lost her father and now has to take care of her sick mother alone. Her mother’s medicine supply is running low, and only Uncle Arya offers her a job selling fried rice at midnight.
From there begins Valeria’s struggle, trying to earn money for her mother’s medicine. The quiet night atmosphere in the neighborhood becomes the source of a terrifying psychological horror. The story is simple yet rather heartbreaking, because behind the delicious fried rice lies the heavy responsibility and fear of a young girl carrying her family’s burden.
Selling Fried Rice

The gameplay is very simple. You cook and sell fried rice just like a typical street vendor, and of course, it has to follow the recipe. The menu only has two options, spicy and regular, the only difference being whether or not spicy sauce is added. But as the days pass, the atmosphere grows more unsettling, and more strange events begin to happen, making you increasingly uneasier.
Even though the mechanics are rather basic, the PSX-inspired atmosphere delivers a strong mix of nostalgia and horror.

Danger Lurking

A young girl working alone late at night is already something unusual. And the customers indeed have every right to be concerned, they keep questioning why Valeria works by herself. It really makes you wonder how dangerous could it be?
And yes, a mysterious stalker will eventually show up. The feeling of being stalked will surely keep you on edge constantly.
At first, he only watches from afar while you serve customers, but he might approach your stall or even follow you home. You’ll have to make careful decisions, should you serve this suspicious figure or run, lock the door or leave it open, or even quit the job altogether for safety? Every small choice determines Valeria’s story and the ending you get.
Multiple Endings
There are a total of four endings you can uncover. Most of them revolve around what the stalker does to Valeria and how you respond to him.
Choices such as serving the stalker, locking the door, or continuing to work for Uncle Arya can all lead to very different endings. The game pushes you to feel conflicted, because even the smallest decision can either save or worsen the situation.
This makes you think twice before acting in every playthrough. The story may be short, but it’s filled with impactful consequences.

Low Poly Graphics

For me, the graphics are quite unique, the characters are extremely low poly, but their faces are taken from real photos that have been pixelated. Making them look somewhat funny.
Meanwhile, objects like buildings and furniture look slightly more detailed. Not too low-poly or pixelated, yet still lightweight. This contrast makes the characters feel out of place in their environment, which actually enhances the unsettling atmosphere.
Perhaps it was also chosen for wider hardware compatibility, and in the end, it strengthens the horror aspect. This visual combination really contributes to the “uncanny valley” effect.
A Must-Try!
For a very cheap price, you’ll get a chilling horror experience paired with a heartbreaking story set in a very relatable Indonesian setting.
Even if the graphics don’t aim for eye candy material, that’s actually part of its charm. And if you’re a fan of indie games, buying this one also means showing real support for small Indonesian developers.
