There is something very special about Indonesian horror it has ever had an exotic soul of chilling mystery, folklore, and a creeping skin. Jurit Malam: Kost 1000 Pintu is the bright sample of the given tradition. This horror game is an indie one, and it is not based on mere kind of jump scares or even gore. It does not, but it strings a cultural and psychological horror experience that will be with you once you stopped playing.
A New Student, A Haunted Place, and 1000 Doors

You are taken into the role of a university student who has just settled in a strange kost (boarding house) only a few steps away from the university. It is low-cost, soundless, and a bit desolate in package, and apparently ideal for a low-end spending student. Yet something is wrong. The other neighbors are aloof. The lady who is the landlady is overly strict. And worst of all, the building is too big in relation to the number of rooms apparently on offer.
Soon, you start to understand what makes this kost (Boarding House) so unique, there are 1,000 doors and behind each of them, there is a secret, a story or a spirit. Not every door has to be opened.

Storytelling with Local Flavor

Jurit Malam: Kost 1000 Pintu is unique, first and foremost, because it captures the Indonesian culture accurately. The imagery is soaked in the tropes of local horror – creaky wooden window frames, dark yellow bulbs of a hallway, ancient sepia family photos, and empty prayer rooms.
You will find evidence of sajen (offerings), snatches of azan or chanting in the background and even a faint whiff of incense and all this brings you into a unique Southeast Asian story. The developers understand exactly what they have to work with setting-wise and make use of it to make the setting appear as true-to-life as possible, which leaves the horror even more harsh.
