Fragmented Memories Arc One is a psychological horror game made by Platomenti using the RPG Maker engine. With hand-painted anime visuals, original music, and a mysterious story about James Charouz searching for his missing wife in Mayoni Village. Let’s check it out!
A Mysterious Beginning
From the very start, this game will make you wonder, “what’s really going on here?” Fragmented Memories Arc One isn’t your typical action-packed RPG. Instead, it leans more into psychological horror with a slower pace that suddenly turns into heart-racing moments.
The story itself is dense, full of mystery, and makes you suspicious of nearly every character you meet. Best part? The game is lightweight, you don’t need a monster PC to run it. Even though it’s indie, it feels like it has a strong attraction for anyone who loves deep and layered storytelling.
Mystery in Mayoni Village

The game follows James Charouz, a mine worker who decides to return to his hometown, Mayoni Village. But instead of peace, his return turns into a nightmare when he realizes his wife has vanished without no one knowing.
What’s even stranger is that no one in the village remembers James ever having a wife. Suspicion grows, especially when hints arise that the villagers may have sacrificed her in some sort of a cultist ritual.

During his desperate search, James is helped by Pieter Van Amersfoort, a senior detective. But things only get worse, James ends up trapped in a bizarre place named Unknown World. From that moment, everything is really questionable, his memories, his friends, even his sanity.
Two Worlds to Explore

One of the most unique aspects of Fragmented Memories Arc One is its dual world design. In the Unknown World, you’ll face puzzles, traps, and strange phenomena you need to solve in order to escape. Meanwhile, in the Real World, or Mayoni Village, the focus shifts to investigating, questioning villagers, and uncovering the truth behind James’ wife’s disappearance.
These two worlds are tightly connected, giving the gameplay a nice rhythm. The Unknown World often drops abstract clues that only make sense once you return to the village.
Every tiny detail can pull you closer to the truth, even if sometimes it does feel like it’s only making things more confusing. Seriously tho, switching between worlds completely changes the vibe of the game.

Psychological Horror
The horror here isn’t merely about jumpscares, it’s about the psychological tension. The game always makes you feel uneasy whether you’re talking to a new character or stepping into an unfamiliar room.
Even silence feels threatening thanks to its immersive soundtrack and world design.
On Point Visuals and Music

And even though Fragmented Memories Arc One is made with RPG Maker with that classic top-down view, the visuals and audio is definitely anything but basic.
Key illustrations are hand drawn in anime style by Gear.Azre, a veteran Indonesian comic artist. The result? Every dramatic moment feels like a living manga panel.
On top of that, the music is composed by YSY Firstsound, featuring 8 original tracks that fit the mood perfectly. Sometimes calming, sometimes chilling, the music elevates the atmosphere to a whole new level.
Even with its simple gameplay, the overall vibe is closer to a horror visual novel with investigation elements.
