Feeling Lonely as an Indie Game Developer? Join IGGI Now!

Learning how to make games but feeling like you’re all alone as an indie game developer? No community to discuss or share your progress with? Don’t worry, IGGI is here to help you grow together with fellow Indonesian game developers!

For Those Without Friends

Ever felt like you’re walking alone when you’re just starting to learn game development? Like there’s no direction, no help? You’re not the only one here.

A lot of people have gone through that phase, including Lucky Holmes. When he first started building his small game studio in Lampung, he felt really isolated. Not because of a lack of ideas, but because there was no one to share the journey with.

Back then, his city didn’t have a game developer community. No mentors to ask technical stuff. No one to talk with about game design, visuals, or even debugging.

Everything had to be done solo. And for some people, that can slowly kill motivation.

Trial and Error

It took Lucky two years to really understand the full process of making a game from scratch. All through trial and error.

Messed up code? Had to fix it himself. Boring design? Had to learn from YouTube. There was no real-time feedback from other devs who understood the context.

Two years is a long time. But that’s when he realized how important it is to have a space to learn, support each other, and grow together.

Now There’s IGGI!

Luckily, there’s a solution now! If you’re currently feeling like how Lucky felt before, there’s now a place that can really help. It’s called IGGI (Indie Games Group Indonesia).

It’s an online community where indie game developers from all over Indonesia gather. This community is open to everyone. Whether you’re still learning Unity, already able to make your own game, or just tried using the Godot engine for the first time, anyone can join.

The most important thing is that you have the will to grow and learn together!

3 Reasons Why IGGI Is Worth Joining

Lucky also shared three main reasons why IGGI can really help you grow:

1. Members from All Over Indonesia

Not just from big cities like Jakarta or Bandung, but also from smaller towns. You can meet other indie game developers, share experiences, and maybe even find teammates for a game project.

2. Plenty of Learning and Collaboration Programs

IGGI isn’t just for random chit-chats. There are mentoring programs, game-making challenges, and even project showcases. It’s perfect if you need structure or motivation to keep on creating!

3. A Place to Vent When You’re Stuck

This one is the most important. Sometimes what holds us back isn’t our skills, but our mindset. When you’re stuck, lost, or just need someone to talk to. IGGI is the place to let it all out!

And the best part? The community is super active. People are ready to listen, offer solutions, or at the very least, give you a boost of motivation.
