Pikabuu Suster Jaga Malam: An Indonesian Horror Game About Being a Late Night Nurse

Pikabuu Night Shift Nurse will have you step into the shoes of a nurse working in a creepy hospital. The game is rather short but still has a dense storyline with multiple endings! Let’s find out more!

Classic Joykeratif Horror

Imagine being a nurse assigned to the night shift on the fourth floor of a hospital, all alone. Dim lights, an eerily quiet hospital, and a patient room called Mawar 02, which has supposedly been empty for a long time. Yet somehow, it’s currently occupied.

That’s the atmosphere offered by Pikabuu: Night Shift Nurse. This game truly delivers a tense atmosphere, much like Joykeratif’s other titles.

Which also doesn’t really rely on ultra-realistic graphics. With nothing more than a PS1-style low-poly look and room designs reminiscent of Indonesian hospitals. You will be instantly immersed in a creepy environment that feels familiar yet unsettling.

Retro Atmosphere

The game takes on a retro approach, the classic Joykeratif style. PS1-inspired low-poly graphics, stiff character movements, and minimal lighting. But it’s precisely this style that makes the environment feel more uncanny. There’s an eeriness sensation lurking in every corner, making you feel like you’re constantly watched, even when no one’s there.

The sound design is simple yet effective. Sometimes it’s almost silent, sometimes it shocks you with sudden loud noises. This is what keeps your heart pounding throughout the game.

Odd Storyline

Delivering IV Fluid

In this game, you play as an ordinary nurse. At first, everything seems normal. Delivering IV drips, opening doors, checking on patients. But over time, you start to notice something is off.

A child suddenly cries, then disappears. A patient is found lifeless out of nowhere. Sometimes the child reappears, this time with her mother.

The story in Pikabuu is short but raises many questions. Who is the child? Why do patients suddenly vanish? And what’s really going on in Room Mawar 02?

Without lengthy dialogues, the game relies on small, unsettling events that slowly make players uncomfortable while piquing their curiosity. The plot is compact and not everything is explained, which makes the horror feel even more intense.

Multiple Endings

Another unique aspect of Pikabuu Night Shift Nurse is how its endings unfold. You don’t really need to choose answers or make major decisions, everything happens naturally along the story’s path. Every moment, including jumpscares or game overs, is a part of the narrative.

There are 9 main endings and 1 bonus ending, all of which you can experience simply by playing to the end. The game uses an automatic replay system, but not for grinding. Each replay is a continuation of the story.

So, even if you keep repeating the same occurence, it still feels like one continuous tale. Think of it like being stuck in a time loop, like in Groundhog Day or Re:Zero if you will.

Easy to Play

One great thing about this game is that it isn’t too long, yet the game remains so dense. In under 40 minutes, you can finish it in one sitting. You can even replay it if you want to refresh the story in your memory.

It’s available on Android, or on PC if you prefer a bigger screen. The whole game is only 29 MB too, so any kind of potatoes can run it.

The gameplay is relaxed, no need for heavy thinking or pressing lots of buttons. You just walk, click, and follow the instructions and story laid out for you.

But don’t be fooled for its simplicity. The experience will still keep you on edge.

Uncomplicated Horor

Pikabuu Night Shift Nurse might look simple and uninteresting. But that’s exactly why it stands out as one of the local horror games worth trying.

If you want to experience horror that’s short, dense, and memorable, this is absolutely a must-try!
