What if music could defy the laws of magic? An Octave Higher asks this haunting question through a story that blends melodies, revolution, and class struggle. Developed by Kidalang Studio, this visual novel takes players into the heart of Overture, a city where social order is defined by who can wield magic and who cannot. But beneath its enchanting lights, Overture hides a brewing rebellion. The story begins in Overture, the bustling capital of a grand empire powered by magic. Here, we meet three main characters,  Elise, a gentle but determined young woman; Franz, a professor torn between reason and compassion; and Frederic, a proud aristocrat who questions his own beliefs. Each of them lives a life shaped by the magical hierarchy that separates the gifted from the powerless.

Their paths cross when a seemingly ordinary piano becomes the center of something extraordinary. Elise, who dreams of repairing the broken instrument, attempts the unthinkable,  using healing magic on an inanimate object. Her bold action sparks a chain of events that pull the three into a tangled web of faith, science, and rebellion.

The narrative doesn’t just follow a single path. Depending on your choices, the story can reach six different endings, from bittersweet resolutions to uplifting finales. Every dialogue matters, every decision weighs heavily, and every note of Elise’s piano seems to echo the world’s shifting fate.
