Adam did not start his journey in the gaming industry in a seminar room, but on a competition stage. Looking back on his journey, he recounts his turning point. “I flash back to 2010 when I started my career in the game industry through a competition held by Nokia,” said Adam. For him, the competition was more than just a showcase; it was an intensive learning ecosystem. “At the time, there were so many workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs organized by Nokia that helped me learn how to join the game industry,” he added. It was there that he actively absorbed knowledge, built a foundation, and even found teammates to start his project.

Capital and Networks: The Sweet Taste of Victory

Indeed, competitions not only provide knowledge but also open doors to greater opportunities such as capital and networking. Winning one of the competitions earned him a significant prize and a valuable opportunity to expand his connections. “I clearly remember a competition organized by Nokia that I participated in and won, receiving a prize of 4,000 dollars and being flown to Singapore for networking,” Adam recalled. Additionally, through the various competitions he participated in, he managed to accumulate capital that became the foundation of his company. “The capital amounted to approximately 120 million rupiah, which I eventually used as startup capital to establish Arsanesia,” he explained.

Bringing Back Opportunities Through Gameseed

This valuable experience then prompted Adam and Wafi from Indie Game Group Indonesia (IGGI) to recreate a similar ecosystem. Both felt the need for an effective platform to develop new talent in the gaming industry. As a result, this desire gave birth to Gameseed, a game development competition they designed to serve as a bridge for beginners. At Gameseed, participants can find mentors, form teams, and have the opportunity to win prizes for initial capital.

Therefore, initiatives like Gameseed are not just competitions but real solutions inspired by successful journeys. Ultimately, this proves that the competition route is a strategic approach to addressing three key challenges: knowledge, teamwork, and capital. It also opens the door to a professional career, as Adam Ardisasmita has proven personally.
